Collections of the National Ossolinski Institute

The Ossolineum collections

The collections of the National Ossolinski Institute are very diverse, as the collections of its founders - Count Ossolinski and Prince Lubomirski - were diverse. Today's Ossolineum collections consist of books, periodicals, manuscripts, documents, old prints, drawings, engravings, paintings, ex-librises, medals, coins, seals, maps and plans, posters, brochures, placards, microform and digital collections. They are kept in two departments - the Ossolineum Library and the Museum of the Lubomirski Princes. The Library focuses mainly on Polish and Slavic humanities. The Museum focuses on works of art and historical memorabilia. The Ossolineum collections are available daily to registered readers on site in eight reading rooms (see below), and are presented in temporary exhibitions in the museums and the library.
