Ossolineum collections on the Internet

Most of the Ossolineum's collections can only be accessed in the reading room on site, but we are systematically making more and more of our collections available to all interested parties, free of charge and without the need for registration - on the Internet. The largest number of items is currently available in the Lower Silesia Digital Library. This consortium was established in 2006 on the initiative of the Wroclaw University of Technology and the National Ossolinski Institute. The second place on the Internet where some of the Ossolineum collections can be seen is the Google Arts & Culture portal. In December 2023, the Museum of the Lubomirski Princes will also begin to make its collections partially accessible. The Ossolineum collections that remained in Lwów (Lviv) after the Second World War will be systematically scanned and made available. Some of these collections can be viewed as pdf files HERE.

Ossolineum collections at Lower Silesia Digital Library (DBC)

The Ossolineum, through the DBC, provides access mainly to special collections that require special protection. The largest collection consists of early printed books - all incunabula, the majority of Polish books from the 16th to 18th centuries, as well as 18th-century foreign prints of particular editorial value (e.g. richly illustrated). The DBC also holds the most important literary manuscripts (including Krasicki, Mickiewicz, Słowacki, Fredro, Sienkiewicz, Reymont and Witkacy), valuable historical documents and medieval manuscripts. Successive editions of books published after 1801 are also added here.
