The celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the Ossolineum, under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, began on 5 June 2017 with the opening of the temporary exhibition "200 Years of the Ossolineum 1817-2017" and an anniversary gala at the Wroclaw Opera House.
The importance of the celebrations was enhanced by the participation of numerous guests representing national and local authorities, as well as the most important cultural and scientific institutions. The jubilee events were accompanied by a rich educational and promotional programme organised by the Ministry. The 200th anniversary was an excellent opportunity to increase and consolidate knowledge of the Ossolineum.
A postcard produced by the Polish Post Office to commemorate the occasion was issued, while the National Bank of Poland issued two collector coins - a 100 zloty gold coin and a 10 zloty silver coin.
